2011 Leaf Legends of Sport
This new issue from Leaf is along the lines of Panini Century, which was issued in early 2011, in the fact that it is an unlicensed set with no logos that centers around Hall of Famers and other players from the past. However, this is a much more likable issue in my opinion. Leaf went to the trouble of creating at least decent card designs, and took the time to select much better photos. The result is one of the best unlicensed issues in recent memory, at least for sets that aren't centered around prospects. Not every card is great, the unlicensed thing makes that almost impossible. But most of the designs are least okay (the Award Winners, Numeration, and Perennial All Stars sets are all big card company worthy) and very few of the photos I've seen are bad enough to be distracting. Great job to Brian Gray and Leaf for showing everyone how it's done in the unlicensed arena!

As for the Cubs, unfortunately Andre Dawson is an Expo in the Numeration set (my favorite design). But that's the only real disappointment from a content standpoint, as all four of our major living Hall of Famers are represented in other sets. The breakdown is below.
